8. Defense / Holdout Loop

Core Player Action

Protect a fixed location, object, vehicle, NPC, or system for a limited time.

Core Loop

  1. Arrive at the defense site.
  2. Prepare the area with positioning, barricades, drones, mines, hacked systems, vehicles, or traps.
  3. Attackers arrive.
  4. Defend the objective.
  5. Repair, heal, reload, reposition, or counter-hack during pressure.
  6. Survive until the timer ends, upload completes, repairs finish, or reinforcements arrive.
  7. Extract, claim reward, or transition into another loop.

Examples

  • Defend a black clinic during a police raid.
  • Protect a gang safehouse from a rival crew.
  • Hold a server room while data uploads.
  • Defend a broken-down cargo truck.
  • Protect a medic team during emergency surgery.

Encounter Length

5–20 minutes.
